Jackson was one of the original Group of Seven, probably the most important group of Canadian painters of the 20th century, certainly the most popular.

Text printed on BFK Rives paper, silver Calzetta drawing on front cover. Encased in a black cloth slipcase titled in silver. One very small light mark on spjne of book, else fine in fine slipcase. Total edition of 70 copies, this is #40 of the 50 for sale, signed by Metcalf and Calzetta. There were also 12 special copies with a sheet of the author's manuscript, five artist's proofs, and three handling copies. Short story by Metcalf illustrated by a renowned Canadian artist. Published at CAD 300 in 1995. A handsome book. 1.1 kg parcel.

Corner crease to front cover, light rubbing & soiling to covers; tan stain to fore edges not penetrating into text margins; just a good copy. Morris, originally from Britain, was twice awarded a DFC by the RCAF during WWII. After the war he became curator of the Vancouver Art Gallery, chief curator of the San Francisco Museum of Art, and director of the important Morris International Gallery in Toronto. This book covers his early life and not much of his career as a curator and gallery operator.
