VG clean and attractive copy still. Variant title page with "Little Men vs "Little Men". BAL 185 assigns no priority. First book edition. First published in parts in London Oct. 1877-Sept. 1878. The sequel to EIGHT COUSINS, about a boy who runs away FROM the circus. Boys play a bit of baseball. Also noted in green cloth.

Children's verse by a well-known Canadian poet with illustrations by a well-known Canadian artist. "The type for each page was hand-set and printed by the artist. The illustrations have been reproduced from original lithographs, drawings, and collages comprising 14 broadsides printed and bound in Canada by Alger Press, Oshawa." - colophon. Lee's first book for children, containing his famous (in Canada) verse "Alligator Pie".
