SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR (simple ink signature on title page). Dust jacket has nicks and tiny chips to spine ends, light rubbing, very small chips to outer corners; VG+ otherwise, flap price intact, colours bright. "A novel of the twenties based on the life of the legendary gangster Jack 'Legs' Diamond." Quite a nice copy of the acclaimed author's second book and the first novel in the Albany cycle of novels.

This is a later issue, with undated title page and with illustrations by Alfred Fredericks. It doesn't have the 10 page catalogue called for by BAL 19483. This was the third of Stowe's three novels of New York fashionable society.
