The Norwegian-American author's best-known book, a story of Norwegian immigrants in Minnesota and North Dakota, as classic of American regional fiction. The book akso comes with plain endpapers (I have seen a copy with a 23 Nov., 1927, ownership inscription.) The US edition adds a new author introduction. First publised in Norway in two volumes in 1924 and 1925.
