Red cloth stamped in black. pp [2], xiv, 248. 1 cm tear at head of lightly sunned spine; crease across top edge of eary leaves; 1916 ink owner name and a later ink name at front; else a VG clean, tight and unworn copy. A condensed version of Vom heutigen Kriege (1912). General von Bernhardi was the epitome of Prussian militarism. He advocated a policy of ruthless aggression and complete disregard of treaties and regarded war as a "divine business". His kind caused millions of lost lives in the muddy hell of WWI, but the general himself died in bed at age 80.
